Why Celebrate the Pastor Anyway?

Many religious organizations along with the local church set aside a special time to honor or celebrate the spiritual leadership within the church. The church may have several different people may have leadership positions but there is one who leads the entire congregation. He or she carries the title of Pastor.

There are a lot of people who think being a pastor is an easy job and to many people it may even look like glitz and glamor. On the contrary being a pastor is not easy work and it requires a special kind of person to deal with so many different people and personalities. It is important to know that you have been chosen by God to lead as a pastor. Pastoring a congregation will require a dedicated prayer life, daily communication with God and a continuous study of the Bible for many years.

Why should we celebrate our pastor and spiritual leaders anyway? We can answer this question easily by stating that ministry is hard repetitive work. It takes a devoted prayer life just to deal with people on a day to day basis. It takes great wisdom and biblical knowledge to be able to help people overcome their burdens in life as well as get delivered from sin. It takes counsel for those who are dealing with situations that may prove to be too overwhelming to carry alone. IT takes teaching and preaching God’s word on a weekly basis to keep the congregants encouraged and uplifted through our daily lives. Celebrating our pastors should come easy after really seeing and understanding what a real pastor work schedule entails.

The Pastor Anniversary Annual Celebration should be a time to honor your pastor and celebrate his or her ministry. During this time other leaders within the church can step forward to assist the pastor to take some of the weight off of him or her. It is important to plan out exactly what the celebration will be and elect people who can truly work together and get the job finished. Celebrating your pastor will only encourage him or her to continue as God leads. The encouragement will allow your pastor to be rejuvenated in the natural life and spiritual life.

The month of October is set aside for appreciating our clergy. You may want to honor your pastor during this month or you may select a time that may be better for the ministry. We need to keep our pastors encouraged after all they are human beings just like us. They will experience the same ups and down we experience only in greater detail. Get involved with your pastor’s anniversary and you will see a change in your spiritual leader.
